- GeneralHoning My Skills for The Big WT........ (more)Fishing the pier first thing Sat., about 6. Equipped with my Gotcha plugs, float rigs, double-droppers and live shrimp. Then to Crady Bridge at 9:30a-10a to catch the 2nd half of the incoming. I\'m catching fish tomorrow, maybe even a big fat whiting! :)

That plan fell flat, only caught a ray and a grunt. Will try a silver spoon at low tide in the surf tomorrow evening. Watched a guy catch 3 beauties doing just that at low tide Sat.

You Are An Ambassador... (more)Talked to Davie at StrikeZone and he said you were in there Talkin\' it up/Braggin\' about your win last month. Good job SL. Fished the pier this eve, Nada. Not one lost shrimp. Water was a little muddy. Did see a few very nice whiting caught by tourists. Gonna try at sunrise if my shrimp are alive. Out.

Aint Good at Administratin\'... (more)I know who you are because I saw your post on the surf casters site labeled Steeleader. I could look at the administation part of this site and figure it out but it is easier if you just email me. angiessubs@comcast.net. Caught 5 fifteen inch trout off the pier yesterday morn, a huge pomp, and saw about 40 trout caught. I broke off a good 5 pounder at the pilings. Bit best around 930 am. Surf fishin this afternoon. Out

Dude, I\'ve been thinking about those trout, too. What was the tide when you caught them? You going to float your shrim or fish on the bottom with a sinker slider and long fluorocarbon leader? I may try it in the early evening when I get back in town.

Float rig old school style... (more)One of my favorite sights in the world is watching a float from the pier as it sinks out of sight. I grew up catching trout of the pier as a boy, a pier rat, and we always float fished. I caught those fish the other day on both sides of the low tide, almost dead low. I let you know how it goes.

(more)Since I\'m basically talking to myself on this forum, as far as I can tell, I thought to myself \"why not have a minimum size limit for a whiting entry?\". Our club uses a self imposed 11\" limit, which is IMHO an inch too long for the tourney, but I say quite a few very small whiting just thrown out so it just got me thinking. What do you think?

Minimum Size... (more)One of the reasons we decided on a whiting tourney was that there was no need for a license to catch them and no bag or size limits. Well one of those reasons has been eliminated by our babysitters. As you know there are days when you can\'t catch a whiting. On one of those days a 6 ounce whiting might win. I would hope entrants would not keep 50 six ounce fish, although the law would allow it, it would be wasteful. Therefore, in my opinion, there should be no minimum size. I do believe that Steeleader has a future in the FWC Reserves in her retirement.
